Exciting times chess friends! This year, Edinburgh Chess Club will be participating in the nationwide “Doors Open Days” festival.
Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free heritage festival, coordinated in Edinburgh and East Lothian by the Cockburn Association. The event allows visitors to explore buildings and spaces not normally open to the public, including historic landmarks, places of worship, cultural venues, workplaces, contemporary architecture and, best of all…Edinburgh Chess Club!
We will be opening the club to all visitors from 12.30 to 16.00 on Saturday the 26th of September and Sunday 27th September and would love for you to pop along for a visit if you are in the area during those times – we look forward to meeting you.

[The solution to last blog’s puzzle is 1.Bg8 Kxg8 2.Nc3 Kf8 3.Nd5 Ke8 4.Kb2 Kd7 5.Nf6+! Ke6 6.Nh7 Kf5 7. Nf8 – keeping the pawn guarded and allowing the king to approach, clever stuff!]
