She Plays to Win – Training

IM Lorin D’Costa from She Plays To Win (SPTW), with support from Edinburgh Chess Club, is running an open training session for girls and women.

Lorin is a professional chess coach helping children of all chess strengths to enjoy and play the game of chess. He also runs She Plays to Win (SPTW) a UK girls’ chess project to try and encourage more girls to learn, play and benefit from chess (further details of SPTW can be found at https://www.sheplaystowin.co.uk/).

The event is open to girls and women for free however please register so that we can judge numbers attending.

(Note that the club is hosting a five round SPTW International Invitational event from Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th February where a dozen international juniors are paticipating.  There are still some free spaces available so any girls or women with a FIDE rating are welcome to contact Lorin asap @ sheplaystowinuk@gmail.com if they are interested in playing.)

    Unrated friendly Allegro (rapid play) competition.

    Five games with 15 minutes with 2s increments (not cumulative) on the clock each. This will be practice for the forthcoming official Johnny Marr Allegro club championship.

    Competing for the Johnny Marr trophy. Time control will be 15 minutes with 2 seconds increments (not cumulative) per person. The results will be sent to Scottish chess for grading (not FIDE rated).
