Hi,

I’m a brazilian engineer, amateur chessplayer and enthusiast of the game of chess. I will be in Edinburgh by the next week (8-12 August 2011) and I would be very honoured to visit this club of very old tradition and history, and maybe play some rapid games. The amount is frightening!
Options suggested No.6 should be avoided if at all possible.
Options 4 & 5 seem good as a number of competitions etc are held at the Wester Hailes Centre giving revenue to the City council.
I help out at the Christian Aid Sale in May each year and feel that many of the club’s library books may be of more value than the club realises. Website “ABEBOOKS” may help with a valuation prior to any sale.
A members “bring and buy” sale may help in a small way.
